Anjan MITRA has been involved with architecture and urban development as a researcher, a practitioner and an activist. A gold medallist in Urban Design, he has also bagged the National Award in Housing Competition, Star Hotel Projects in Delhi. He emerged as a winner in Renovating Star Theatre Competition. Throughout his career he advocates for sustainable design. He is involved in various research studies involving urban development, urban economics, conservation and cultural issues.

Rajat RAY is presently Professor in GGSIP University, Delhi. Earlier, he was Professor of Architecture and Officiating Dean at Sushant School of Art & Architecture at Gurgaon. He has taught extensively at B. Arch and M. Arch levels for over two decades. He was also in the Visiting Faculty of the Post-graduate and under-graduate courses in SPA, Delhi. He is currently one of the senior-most trained conservation architects in India. He is an empaneled Conservation Consultant to INTACH, Consultant to Kolkata Metropolitan Corporation and to ASI. He has been a Member of Heritage Task Force of Delhi Urban Arts Commission, of Board of Studies of Institute of Archaeology, ASI Delhi and of ICOMOS, India.
He received Bachelor of Architecture from B.E. College, Sibpur, University of Calcutta and Master of Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi. He also got the Post-graduate Diploma in Restoration of Monuments and Historic Centres, Florence, Italy and M. A. in Conservation, York, UK. He has made a number of presentations in important national and international forums and written in architectural journals. Dr. Rudy BANERJEE is an Associate Professor, (Sabbatical at EHS, UC Berkeley 2013-14), Department of Geography, Indiana University, Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) He has been a Research Fellow, Prevention Research Centre, Berkeley, CA and Advisor, SmartZIP(real estate intelligence start-up), SmartZIP.com, Pleasanton, CA. His interests are: spatial and computational statistics, spatial econometrics, decision support systems, and applied operations research (environmental and population health). Rudy earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from B. E. College (IIEST), Sibpur, India, MS in Urban and Regional Planning and doctorate in Geography (environmental epidemiology and GISc), both from the University of Iowa. He also has a Graduate Certificate in Transportation Studies from that institution. He was a recipient of the 2005 (International Medical Geography Symposium’s) Jacques May Dissertation Prize. Recently, he was invited to present his National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) research at the School of Medicine, Harvard University. He has presented his work on GISc and health in a number of world-class institutions like, University of California at Berkeley and Santa Barbara, University of Washington-Seattle etc., and many other organizations. Saurabh TEWARI is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal. At present, he is on leave to pursue to doctoral studies at Design Programme, IIT Kanpur. He studied architecture undergraduate at Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Gurgaon and later postgraduate studies in Design at IDC School of Design at IIT Bombay. He also has a Certificate of Proficiency from TU Dresden.
He has received various research and travel fellowships from institutions like Rockefeller Foundation, Columbia University, DST-MHRD, UNESCO/UNEP and DRONAH. He has presented academic and research papers on design, architecture and urbanism in India, University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka, University of Wits South Africa, TU Dresden Germany, ISCTE-IUL Portugal, VCU Qatar, ITU Istanbul Turkey and USD Kolding Denmark. His teaching interest lies in Basic Design, Graphics, Visual Communication Design and Architectural History. His research interests lie in design, its history, modernism and India. |
Shubhrajit DAS is a reputed academician based in Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata. He is presently Professor at the Department of Architecture of Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He received the Graduation in Architecture, School of Architecture, CEPT Ahmedabad (with one term in ETH, Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland) and M.S in Architecture from University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, USA. He has been involved in a reputed architecture practice based in Lucknow. he taught as a Professor at the Govt. College of Architecture, Lucknow, and as a visiting faculty at the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi.
He has presented extensively on history/theory and on his own design works at premier institutions in India and to the international audiences including the Society of Architectural Historians of United States at Cincinnati. His design works were also exhibited at the ‘12 on 12’ exhibition held in Ahmedabad. He was awarded ‘A+D/Spectrum Award for Housing’ in 2002. He has co-authored a book titled ‘Eternal Stone: Great Buildings of India’ by Penguin Books and his extensive writings also include several critical essays written for the cover issues of A+D, among others. He has over twenty five years of experience in handling key international projects in India and in the Middle-East. He started professional career with CES in Delhi and then, left for the Middle-east. He spent over twenty years in Muscat, Oman, and a couple of years in Dubai, UAE building some magnificent structures in different countries. Dr. Suptendu P. BISWAS is an architect, urban designer, and planning professional involved in teaching, research, and consultancy. He is a graduate from B.E. College (IIEST), Shibpur, and is a postgraduate and doctorate from the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi. He works on built environment, urbanism, spatial equity, and sociology of culture. His recent book, Assorted City, on equity, justice and politics of urban services has received critical appreciation.
